Oz-Ram Varsity Robotics Team was founded by Mr. William Renauld, Mrs. Cathy Mayne, and Mr. Jeffery Beltramo in late 2005. Our team name was chosen because our first Corporate Sponsor was Osram Sylvania (Hillsborough, NH), and the founder's personal love for the Wizard of Oz: hence "OZ-RAM" was a fitting choice. We hope to continue to provide an opportunity for students in the towns of Hopkinton, Henniker, and Weare to discover their passion and be part of such a life changing program for years to come.
Oz-Ram is a FIRST® Robotics Team dedicated to Solving real-world problems, empowering student leaders, giving back to the community, preparing students for the future, and most importantly, having FUN!
Our Rookie year was 2006. Hopkinton Middle High School and John Stark Regional High School Students make up our team from Hopkinton, Contoocook, Weare, and Henniker. Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, we call FIRST® Robotics Competition the ULTIMATE SPORT FOR THE MIND. Under strict rules, limited resources, and limited time, teams must raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game again competitors. It's real world engineering for students, and so much more.
Volunteer professional Mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting world-wide FIRST® Championship. Robotics provides opportunities for team members to gain knowledge in the fields of engineering, programming, manufacturing, construction, graphic design, marketing, 3D Design, and so much more.
